i actually did a project on this exact subject in far eastern studies last year. I thought it was really interesting how the British really held the chinese under there control by trading opium
the high addiction rates kept the chinese coming back for more opium and when the government tried to stop it the British just crushed them with their military
I saw a documentary on this a couple of years ago... I think it's weird that some major events of world history revolve around drug trafficking. And the fact that the English were the world's major trafficker is interesting
